Lauren Katzowitz Shenfield.
Lauren Katzowitz Shenfield’s experience
in family, private, and corporate philanthropy includes numerous
family and private foundations, Exxon Corporation, and the
Ford Foundation. A leading donor advisor and family foundation
consultant, Lauren is the founder and executive director of
Philanthropy Advisors – A Service of UJA-Federation
of New York.
Lauren’s articles on philanthropy
have appeared in national publications, and she has been quoted
in The Journal of Wealth Management, Foundation News &
Commentary, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, and other professional
journals. The New York Times, CNN, and NPR have interviewed
Lauren about a program she created for women artists, Anonymous
Was A Woman. Recently she addressed the Investment Management
Institute’s Wealthy Families Forum on the subject of
Engaging in Values-Based Philanthropy.
A founding member of the National Network
of Consultants to Grantmakers, Lauren served as a director
of New York Regional Association of Grantmakers (NYRAG) and
Women & Philanthropy. She is also a member of the Professional
Advisory Committee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a
trustee of The Baron De Hirsch Fund. In addition to general
management, Lauren specializes in helping donors define their
mission and grantmaking strategies, create and operate innovative
grant programs, and evaluate their effectiveness as organizations.
A nationally recognized facilitator of family foundation board
retreats, she has worked with more than 30 private philanthropies.
